Attitudinal Access pillar: The beliefs, language, and habits of mind that either open the door or quietly close it, 5. Inclusive communication and class design pillar: How you cue, how you communicate, and how you build a class that works for every student, 6. Accessibility in yoga doesn’t happen with one single change.

It is a collection of interconnected practices that shape whether someone feels welcomed, valued, and able to participate.

The Inclusive Yoga Framework, developed by Jeannette Campbell, brings these practices together through six interconnected pillars. Together, they provide a practical way to identify and address barriers to participation in yoga — from the physical environment to communication, teaching practices, and studio culture.

The six pillars are:

  1. Physical Environment

  2. Instructor Readiness

  3. Financial Access

  4. Attitudinal Access

  5. Inclusive Communication & Class Design

  6. Studio Culture

Each pillar represents an important area to consider when creating a more accessible and inclusive yoga experience.

Over the coming weeks, this series will take a closer look at each pillar — what it means, why it matters, and what it can look like in practice.

Whether you are just beginning to think about accessibility or are already putting inclusive practices into action, the six pillars provide a framework to help you identify opportunities, build your knowledge, and take practical steps toward more inclusive yoga.
